With the Lunar New Year approaching, the Taichung City Tun District Art Center is presenting a series of special holiday activities under the theme “Golden Horse Welcomes Spring,” in line with traditional New Year customs. On Saturday, January 31, the “Golden Horse Welcomes Spring” New Year Calligraphy Event will invite renowned local calligraphers to create festive Spring Festival couplets, New Year prints, and square calligraphy pieces on site, bringing New Year blessings and a cultural and artistic feast to the public.
During the Lunar New Year holiday period, the public is also invited to enjoy a New Year outing at the Taichung City Tun District Art Center. In addition to the distribution of “Year of the Horse lucky bags” at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 20 (the fourth day of the Lunar New Year) in the Center’s lobby, a festive Butterfly Dance Show will be presented from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., along with an elegant and auspicious guzheng performance by Mu-Mu, offering fun, family-friendly programs to welcome a lively New Year.
In addition, visitors can stop by the exhibition galleries at the Taichung City Tun District Art Center to enjoy a rich selection of works, including the “Taichung Municipal Shuang Wen Junior High School 6th Art Class Graduation Exhibition”, featuring five categories of creations: ink painting, sketching, watercolor, design, and calligraphy; the “Masters Around the Corner” series exhibition, in which artist Chao-Lung Ni captures the pulse of the land and the warmth of human connection and distills life experiences into delicate, refined images, presenting oil paintings and prints; the “Tun Art Academy” exhibition, showcasing the learning outcomes of course participants and outstanding works by instructors; and the “Taichung Municipal Chang Yi Senior High School (Junior High Division) Art Class Graduation Exhibition: Mona Lisprinkle”, where 21 young artists bring their own colors to life as they welcome the Year of the Horse together.
