To provide the public with a warm and healing artistic experience, the Taichung City Seaport Art Center is presenting “My Paintings, Furry Friends’ Voices — A Solo Exhibition by Kuo Hsiao-chun” at Juyue Hall from now through February 22. The exhibition invites visitors to step into the world of the paintings and, through art, experience the innocence, charm, and comforting companionship of furry friends.
The Seaport Art Center noted that the exhibition features 30 works by artist Kuo Hsiao-chun, created in media including oil painting and pastel. Taking furry friends from everyday life as the main subjects, the artist employs delicate brushwork and vivid compositions to capture their many authentic and cute moments. The works depict wide-eyed, innocent expressions, as well as adorable poses of leisurely stretching and carefree play, and even mischievous looks that bring a smile to the viewer’s face. Through a gentle perspective and a touch of humor, the artist transforms the vitality and emotions of these furry friends into visual form, offering viewers a deeply soothing and joyful artistic experience.
“My Paintings, Furry Friends’ Voices” is not merely a visual art exhibition, but also a dialogue of emotions. Exhibiting artist Kuo Hsiao-chun explained that the theme is built around the concept of “paintings” and “voices,” using the artworks as a medium through which furry friends seem to speak on their own behalf, guiding viewers to rediscover the sincere and pure bond between humans and animals. In the fast-paced rhythm of modern life, these images serve as a gentle reminder to slow down and to notice those seemingly small yet profoundly meaningful presences that bring smiles and a sense of happiness to our lives.
Kuo Hsiao-chun’s work “Come on—Give Your Hubby a Kiss!” captures an innocent and endearing moment of a furry friend through a warm and humorous perspective, successfully drawing the viewer’s attention. In the painting, a small pig with an innocent expression and a gentle color palette gazes directly at the viewer. Its slightly open mouth and rounded snout appear to lean forward in an affectionate gesture. Combined with an exaggeratedly charming expression, the work brings a spontaneous smile to the viewer’s face and conveys a strong sense of intimacy and happiness.
During the exhibition period, interactive exchange activities have also been planned. Kuo Hsiao-chun will make appearances at the venue from time to time to share her creative philosophy and personal stories about her life with furry friends, offering the public an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the emotional sources and creative process behind the works. Through close, face-to-face interaction, the exhibition aims to create a welcoming and relaxed viewing environment, allowing art to naturally become part of everyday life.
The Taichung City Seaport Art Center sincerely invites the public to visit the exhibition at Juyue Hall to experience “My Paintings, Furry Friends’ Voices — A Solo Exhibition by Kuo Hsiao-chun.” In this space brimming with creativity and warmth, the artworks bring smiles, and the stories of these furry friends offer comfort to the heart, adding a genuine sense of warmth and emotion to everyday life.
