The Ministry of Culture will provide 1,200 Culture Points to young people aged 13 to 22 in 2026, making arts and culture more accessible to youth. Eligible recipients may start claiming the points on January 1, and the points must be used by December 31. The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government has also rolled out additional incentives, including the Youth Seats program and special promotions at the city’s three cultural centers. At the Taichung City Huludun Cultural Center, the Taichung City Seaport Art Center, and the Taichung City Tun District Art Center, young people who use Culture Points to purchase Youth Seats can redeem cultural and creative gifts. With a full year of exhibitions and performances on offer, the Bureau invites young people to make the most of their Culture Points and begin a year-long cultural journey.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that the Culture Points program encourages teenagers to engage in a wide range of cultural experiences while also supporting Taiwan’s arts and cultural industries. There are more than 3,800 participating Culture Points venues in Taichung, spanning bookstores and publishing, cinemas, performing arts, museums, cultural heritage sites, pop music, and cultural and creative crafts. Popular destinations where Culture Points can be used include Taichung Station Railway Cultural Park, Shen Ji New Village, Guangfu New Village (Wufeng District), and the National Museum of Natural Science. Young people are welcome to visit the cultural sites in Taichung.
The Taichung City Government has long promoted equal access to arts and culture. By combining Culture Points with the Youth Seats program, the city aims to enable more young people to engage with arts and cultural activities and develop their appreciation for the arts. Produced by Give Meet Five and adapted from the hit comic series by popular creator Rishiazao, the original musical “Three Unmarried Women” was staged at Taichung City Chung Shan Hall on January 24 and 25, 2026. Over two consecutive holiday periods, February 19–21 and February 27–March 1, 2026, FOCASA Circus will bring “One to One Hundred: A Brave Journey” to Wenxin Forest Park. Led by internationally acclaimed choreographer Lin Hwai-min as artistic director, the production reimagines the picture book world of Jimmy Liao through contemporary circus, delivering a fresh and immersive performing arts experience. Youth Seats, available for purchase with Culture Points, are now on sale. Young audiences are warmly invited to step into the theatre and experience the performing arts firsthand.
The City’s cultural centers are also offering gifts to audiences who purchase Youth Seats with Culture Points. Participating venues include the Taichung City Huludun Cultural Center, the Taichung City Seaport Art Center, and the Taichung City Tun District Art Center, with eligible events such as the Huludun Arts Festival, the Haoyouyisi Performing Arts Festival, Xiha Yixia, and the Technology Cross Arts Experimental Platform.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau added that it will continue to invite outstanding productions to join Taichung City’s Youth Seats program. Upcoming offerings will include programs by Comedy Troupe, Omobai Dajōbu Theatre Troupe, Godot Theatre Company, and Performance Workshop, with more highlights to follow.
