Last year (2025), the Seaport Art Center volunteer team received the Ministry of Culture’s “National Outstanding Cultural Volunteer Group Award”.

The Taichung City Seaport Art Center is holding the “Art in Full Gallop: Volunteer Art Exhibition” from April 3 to 26, bringing together the long term creative achievements of its volunteer partners. More than 70 works are on display, showcasing the abundant energy that volunteers continue to devote to learning and artistic creation alongside their cultural service. The public is warmly invited to visit the exhibition.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government noted that this exhibition takes “Art in Full Gallop” as its theme, symbolizing the volunteers’ passion for artistic creation as a spirited horse in full stride, vigorous and unceasing. A total of 28 volunteers and one interest group are participating in the exhibition. The works encompass a wide range of forms, including Eastern and Western painting, ceramics, ink painting and calligraphy, photography, three dimensional art, mixed media, and woven handicrafts, presenting the creative achievements and reflections on life that the volunteers have accumulated while engaging in cultural volunteer service.

The Taichung City Seaport Art Center stated that its volunteer service team has now entered its 25th year. Over the years, the team has provided long term support for exhibitions, performances, educational outreach, and guided tours in the park, and has become an important partner in the Bureau’s promotion of arts and cultural services. Upholding the spirit of “learning together, creating together, and thriving together,” the volunteer team continues to devote itself to artistic learning in addition to service, and presents diverse outcomes through creative exhibitions. Since 2009, the team has successively organized creative exhibitions under different themes to showcase the volunteers’ artistic energy and creative achievements.

The Center further noted that its volunteers have long delivered fruitful results in cultural service. In 2025, the team received the Ministry of Culture’s “National Outstanding Cultural Volunteer Group Award” and the “Taichung City Volunteer Service Team Award,” while several members also received individual honors, demonstrating the soft power built through their long standing commitment to cultural service. Through service and learning, the volunteers support one another and grow together, while also bringing warmth and vitality to arts and cultural venues. In addition, they actively develop a variety of cultural activities. Examples include the independently planned “Qiaoyifang DIY Market” and “Little Egret Storytelling,” both of which are completed jointly by volunteers from scriptwriting and set design to performance, demonstrating their cultural initiative in action. Volunteer interest groups such as the tea club, patchwork club, and pen art club have also become important platforms for exchange and learning among team members.

The Taichung City Seaport Art Center stated that “Art in Full Gallop” is not only an art exhibition, but also a presentation of the outcomes of volunteers’ long term commitment to cultural service and personal growth. Through this exhibition platform, more people can see the artistic energy of the volunteers, while members of the public can also experience the beauty of art integrated into everyday life. The Center sincerely invites everyone to attend and witness the unceasing creative passion of its volunteer partners.
