An international tour, Taiwan shines! The pre-departure performance of the Eastern U.S. and Canada delegation for the annual arts and cultural event jointly presented once again by the Overseas Community Affairs Council and the Taichung City Government, the 2026 Taiwanese American Heritage Week & Asian Heritage Month in Canada, will take place on Saturday, April 11, at the Recital Hall of Taichung City Huludun Cultural Center. This performance will feature Glorious Taiwan, a cross-disciplinary production by Formosa Melody Music Center, presenting an audiovisual feast that transcends time and space. Members of the public are invited to witness a poetic celebration of Taiwanese culture that brings tradition and modernity together.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government noted that the OCAC selects top-tier groups each year to form cultural delegations for overseas tours to promote Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage. These tours attract more than 100,000 attendees on average and have become a major annual cultural event for overseas Taiwanese communities around the world. This year, Formosa Melody Music Center, renowned for its cross-disciplinary performances, has been chosen to serve as a cultural ambassador in the Taiwanese American Heritage Week & Asian Heritage Month in Canada series, bringing Taiwan’s diverse culture to the international stage. Glorious Taiwan breaks away from conventional performance formats by integrating dance, music, theater, folk songs, lighting and projection, and scent design to create an immersive cultural experience.
Taichung City Huludun Cultural Center stated that Glorious Taiwan uses the body as brush and the stage as canvas to portray the delicate emotions of Minnan culture, the strength and resilience of the Hakka spirit, and the unrestrained creative energy of a new generation, weaving them into a cultural landscape that transcends time and space. Formosa Melody Music Center stated that through this performance, it hopes to show that culture is no longer merely a scene to be viewed on stage, but a living experience that can be touched through the senses and shared in warmth. When the lights come up, audiences will feel the rhythm and warmth of Taiwanese culture in the space between every note and every breath.
