The most stress-relieving, wildly unpredictable, and hilariously out-of-control stage comedy event of the summer is about to hit Taichung! Taiwanese live comedy troupe Ni-Hao Manzai Studio will present its brand-new original production, "Yen-Da vs. The Willing Eight", on the afternoon of Saturday, August 1, at the Taichung City Huludun Cultural Center. The show will feature a special appearance by A-Da , one of Taiwan’s leading comedy groups. He will face off against four seasoned comedy duos—Hsien-Tien Hsien-Tso, Chun-Yu, Pao-Lo WALK, and Fu-Li Boys—in an all-new stage experience combining manzai, improvisation, and variety-show competitions.
Taichung City Huludun Cultural Center noted that stand-up comedy, manzai, and improvisational comedy have rapidly gained popularity among younger generations in recent years, becoming some of the most popular forms of performing arts. "Yen-Da vs. The Willing Eight" takes this trend a step further by breaking free from the conventions of traditional comedy performances and transforming the theater into a variety-show arena, immersing audiences in the atmosphere of a live reality show. The production’s title is a play on the wording of a familiar Chinese saying. Veteran comedian A-Da will take on eight formidable rising stars of comedy. Whether experience ultimately prevails or the younger generation stages a successful upset will be decided entirely by the performers’ quick thinking and ability to improvise on the spot.
Over the years, 達康.come has won over audiences with its witty and humorous style of manzai and is widely regarded as one of the major driving forces behind the development of manzai in Taiwan. This marks A-Da’s first collaboration on stage with a new generation of comedy groups, promising unexpected cross-generational chemistry and an abundance of laughs. The show features a carefully designed series of hilarious challenges, including the "Random Mission Challenge", which will put the performers’ teamwork and chemistry to the test; the "Team Showdown", packed with unpredictable twists and reversals; and a "Live Improvisation Segment" that may push the performers to the brink of a breakdown.
