The 2026 Taiwan Creative Expo will be held from August 6–12 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. This year, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government once again brings a curated selection of TCOD Taichung Originals brands to the event through the Taichung Originals Pavilion. Under the exhibition theme “ParticlesThe Aggregation and Expansion of Taichung Originals”, the pavilion gathers 27 brands from the fields of craft, design, and lifestyle aesthetics, highlighting both Taichung’s vibrant creative community and the achievements of its cultural and creative industries.

Deputy Director-General Shih Chun-fu said that since launching the TCOD Taichung Originals initiative in 2021, the Bureau has been committed to connecting resources across the design, craft, cultural, and industrial sectors while identifying local brands with outstanding originality and market potential. The program has now certified 175 high-quality works, helping to establish a distinctive identity for Taichung’s original brands. Through participation in major exhibitions such as the Taiwan Creative Expo, the Bureau continues to support local businesses in expanding market access, increasing brand visibility, strengthening competitiveness, and introducing Taichungs creative design strengths to wider domestic and international audiences.

According to exhibition curator and designer Chou Yu-jun, the pavilion is inspired by the concept of particle. Layered translucent materials create a multidimensional exhibition environment in which each selected TCOD work serves as a building block of the city’s cultural landscape. Although the featured works come from diverse industries and creative backgrounds, their spatial arrangement creates visual dialogue and meaningful connections, allowing individual creativity to converge into a shared cultural force that reflects Taichungs unique lifestyle and urban identity.

The pavilion features a wide range of representative works from TCOD Taichung Originals. Highlights include the Snow Mountain Ash Glaze Cup by Elegant Pottery Studio, which combines the imagery of Snow Mountain with plant ash glazing techniques to showcase the beauty of natural textures and ceramic craftsmanship; the Embrace Series by SHIH JIAN STUDIO, whose ceramic figurines express warmth, comfort, and companionship; and SPARK’s Action Plan by Action Plan Co., Ltd., which transforms original IP characters into interactive products that encourage people to “Take Action.

Another featured work, “Central City Regeneration: Fragrant Shiyakusho, presented by Cho Me Express, combines imagery inspired by historic civic architecture with fragrance design while incorporating sustainable practices such as repurposed reservoir sediment and refillable candles. The work demonstrates how culture, design, and environmental sustainability can be thoughtfully integrated. Together, the featured creations reflect the diversity and innovation of Taichung Originals across craft, design, and lifestyle aesthetics.

The Taichung Originals Pavilion will be on display at the 2026 Taiwan Creative Expo from August 6–12 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. The Cultural Affairs Bureau warmly invites visitors to explore the diversity and creativity of Taichung’s design scene.
