The first performance of the 2024 Huludun Art Festival at Taichung City Huludun Cultural Center will be presented by Candied Haws Theater on Friday, March 8th. Their latest creation, Little Red Riding Hood Peter Searching for Grandma, delves into the genuine significance of family dynamics and everyday life through touching and heart-warming storytelling, urging audiences to appreciate their loved ones before it's too late. We welcome all in Taichung to attend and enjoy the show with their families.
Taichung City Huludun Cultural Center emphasizes the strong support from Taichung City Government for nurturing cultural and artistic groups. The Center provides a platform for students and art groups in Fengyuan District to perform, and it is dedicated to promoting cultural activities and educational growth while fostering future talents in the arts. Candied Haws Theater from Huludun Elementary School has dedicated significant effort to developing performing arts education, earning numerous accolades, including the Ministry of Education’s Social Education Contribution Awards, the Arts Education Contribution Award, and the Excellence Award in the National Student Competition of Creative Drama Art. They produce innovative works every year and strive for better, receiving enthusiastic feedback from the audience.
Principal Ke Chih-ming of Huludun Elementary School remarked that Candied Haws Theater , led by Director Lei Hsiao-ching and Mr. Tung Cheng-kang, focuses on drama training to strengthen children's resilience, boost confidence, enhance expressive skills, encourage them to take on challenges and unleash their potential through collaborative learning. They also incorporate inspirational storylines emphasizing ideas like family bonds, nature awareness, ecological conservation, environmental protection, and cherishing resources. Positive impacts on the children's physical, mental, and emotional growth have been witnessed. Over the years, they have received widespread approval and steadfast support from parents.
Lei Hsiao-ching, the director, said that leading Candied Haws Theater for the past 17 years has involved harnessing the children's physical energy through performing arts. They've emphasized role interpretation, body language, and facial expressions to make performances impactful, allowing kids to understand perception and reasoning while experiencing life's journey. Even after graduation, former members often return as mentors, crediting the group's training for their ability to confidently demonstrate their strengths and characteristics and express themselves in school and as a person.
The tale Little Red Riding Hood Peter Searching for Grandma follows the protagonist, Little Red Riding Hood Peter, as he grows older and begins to forget the affection his grandma once showed him. However, during his quest to find his missing grandma, he recalls something that leads him to a deep understanding of the true treasures worth cherishing in life.
