Taichung City Fiber Museum launches "Light of Fiber Exhibition"The Interaction between Fiber art and light and shadow creates aesthetic experience
The Taichung City Fiber Craft Museum launches "Guiding the Way - Lights of Fibers Exhibition" as from today. With the theme of "Light", it displays 10 large-scale fiber art works by 8 artists, using fiber creations with various media and techniques to interact with light and shadow, presenting stunning visual beauty, and the public is welcome to visit the exhibition.
The Fiber Art Museum stated that both of the creative media and expression techniques of fiber art are quite diverse, and different connotations and contexts of the works can even be created through the dialogue with light and shadow or the surrounding environment. This exhibition invited the curator Zhu Lingrong to use "Light" as the theme to display 10 large-scale fiber art creations by eight artists, including Chen Jinglin, Lin Meiru, Chen Shuyan, You Wenfu, Yang Weilin, Lin Shuling, Huang Wenying and Wu Peishan. It can be said that It’s a rare feast of lights of fibers!
"The idea for this exhibition came from the feeling of holding a lantern to guide the way during the Lantern Festival when I was a child." Curator Zhu Lingrong said . "As as long as there is light in your hands, the darkness and fear around you will fade away, and a fresh sense of exploration will arise. " Childhood memories are very inspiring for her reflection of life, and creative process when she grows up. The fiber materials used in the works exhibited the time, ranging from natural hemp, cotton, and feathers to artificial jade, reflective threads, and LED panels. Through light and shadow projection and fiber weaving, they are integrated into one, bringing a different exhibition experience from the past. , The exhibition show various discussion topics range from nature, inner scenery to the color coding of camouflage, etc. It is expected that it will bring unique visual beauty and inspiration to viewers , like the memory of holding a lantern to guide the way in childhood.
The 10 works on display in "Guiding the Way - Lights of Fibers Exhibition", including "Sculpture of Light" by dyeing and weaving expert Chen Jinglin, "Cluster of Flowers and Flying Butterflies" co-created with the Tian Ran Workshop Group, and "Language of Bamboo (Feather)" by You Wenfu , "The Big Sleep" by Yang Weilin, "Mystery/Color" by Wu Peishan, "The Realm of Fertility" by Chen Shuyan, Lin "Triggering Infinity" by Shuling, "Past time" and "Reflective Path" by Huang Wenying , as well as "Light", the layout from French designer Samuel Misslen, and created by teacher Lin Meiru allows the public to have a better understanding of the diverse materials and techniques of fiber craftsmanship.
The Fiber Museum further explained that among the works on display, "Light" designed by French designer Samuel Misslen and created by Lin Meiru was the most popular work in the opening exhibition of the Fiber Museum. It appeared again in this exhibition, such as the cubic bamboo woven lamp, bringing all the basic bamboo weaving techniques has a built-in light source projected on the wall to form kaleidoscopic light and shadow patterns. It has once again become the most noticeable work since its development.
Two jacquard woven works by Huang Wenying "Reflective Path" and "Past time" respond the theme of this exhibition from the perspective of "guidance" and "exploration", encouraging viewers to use the search and reflection of flashlights to find patterns in the story.
