In the 20th century, a significant number of Taiwan's modern art pioneers emerged from the Greater Taichung area. Although many of these artists have since passed, their influence continues to shape the art scene in the 21st century. The Taichung City Seaport Art Center began planning the Museum of Artist Archive of Taichung City in 1999, which officially opened on November 4, 2001. This museum not only strives to collect the creative ideas and audiovisual records of early artists but also focuses on documenting the work of contemporary artists, aiming to leave a valuable historical record of Taiwan's artistic evolution. In 2020, the main space of the Museum of Artist Archive of Taichung City was transformed into children's art areas, such as the Art Experience Classroom and the Picture Books Area, to inspire elementary school students in the Greater Taichung coastal area to explore the beauty of art.
