In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Taichung City Government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Taichung City Seaport Art Center collaborated to present a folk music festival titled “Port Art Folk Song 50 Mid-Autumn Night.” Held tonight (7th) at the Taichung City Seaport Art Center’s Art Square outdoor, the event featured performances by acclaimed Golden Melody Award winners such as Johnny Yin, Joseph Yeh, Wang Hai-ling, Shih Hsiao-jung, Christine Hsu, and Li Ming-te. They performed a range of festive folk songs and well-known classics. Director Chen Chia-chun of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, together with over 4,000 attendees at the event, enjoyed this star-studded celebration of music.

The event featured performances by notable singers, including the “Three Gold Singer” Johnny Yin, winner of the Golden Bell Awards, Golden Tripod Award, and three Golden Melody Awards for Best Male Mandarin Singer. Christine Hsu, a recipient of over 20 international and Taiwanese music awards and lauded as “the most beautiful voice of Taiwan across the centuries,” along with Joseph Yeh, who was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 8th Top Chinese Music themed “Honors & Dreams,” also took the stage. Their distinctive vocal styles and deeply emotional performances of several well-loved songs captivated the audience.

Li Ming-te, who knows how to sing and has a diverse background as a songwriter, TV host, and record producer, energized the audience with songs like Direction of the Heart. Another standout talent was the “flying singer” Tu Pei-tsen from College City, who captivated the audience with songs like Moon Guitar and Flying Youth. Wang Hai-ling, celebrated as Taiwan's “youngest campus folk singer”, charmed the audience with her sweet voice, evoking memories of youthful days. Shih Hsiao-jung, a Golden Melody Awards regular, performed his iconic original song “Spring Time”, leaving the audience musically satisfied.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that, the Port Art Folk Song 50 Mid-Autumn Night has been organized for years and has become a tradition for many families during the Mid-Autumn Festival. It draws participants of all ages and has become a significant annual celebration in Taichung’s coastal region, providing an opportunity for people to enjoy the warmth and emotional connection of music during this festive season. Looking ahead, the Cultural Affairs Bureau plans to continue their mission of “bringing art to the people” by organizing more enriching arts and cultural events, encouraging wider participation to share the joy of art.
