The brand “Taichung Original Design (TCOD)” is hosting a pop-up sale in Taipei! The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government has brought together 28 high-quality products selected this year. From today (9th) until October 13, you can visit the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park's Songyan Market (Tobacco Factory) for a five-day pop-up sale featuring a diverse array of items, including home decor, personal accessories, and culinary products. Everyone is invited to show support and experience the cultural creativity and design inspiration that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Taichung.
Umami’s RIPPLE series, certified in the Creative Living category, is offering exclusive discounts at the Songyan Market pop-up sale. Chuang Chia-Chun, founder and designer of umami, excitedly shared that umami is a brand co-created by a 40-year-old factory in Waipu, Taichung, and a young design team. He is thrilled to be part of this sale event, where they will display stools in S and L sizes and provide wooden samples for attendees to view and purchase. Additionally, the Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that AURA's Origami Leather Series and Shiwu Jewelry's Botanical Jewelry Series - Chinese Cymbidium, both certified in the Creative Living category, will have discount offers during the Songyan Market, aiming to showcase the aesthetically pleasing cultural and creative products from Taichung.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that Carpenter Workshop's Animal Wine Rack features animal designs and is made from wood sourced from FSC-certified sustainable forests, with production taking place in Taiwan to minimize carbon footprints. Additionally, the Wufeng District Farmers' Association has introduced GONGBAODI Commemorative Liquor and Spring and Autumn Eight Thousand Commemorative Liquor, inspired by the historical and cultural significance of the Wufeng Lin Family Mansion, a national historic site, making these liquors highly collectable and meaningful.
EMORA has crafted the Sustainable Water-Repellent Branch Pleated Bag using recycled yarn made from PET bottles, drawing inspiration from the Taiwan sweet gum tree. The water-repellent coating is derived from plant extracts, reflecting a commitment to sustainable fashion. Meanwhile, Holy Gift's Hong Yi - 2024 Year of the Dragon Spring Festival Gift Set: Golden Dragon YO Fish reinterprets a golden dragon fish sculpture as a decorative tabletop ceramic piece, accompanied by a zodiac commemorative coin, showcasing a refined artistic aesthetic in everyday life.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau mentioned that at the opening ceremony today, several brand representatives attended to promote their brands, including Ko Ai-Ting, designer and founder of EMORA; Chuang Chia-Chun, founder and designer of umami; Chang Hsin-Ping, designer of AURA; Chih Ming-Cheng, head of Takeneko; Chung Ping-Chieh, founder of RE:NEW Workshop; Chang Hsin-Yen, head of Pulp Garden; and Liao Po-Hsien, designer of Yuwu Design.
