The 2024 Taichung Picnic Day will grandly take place this Sunday, November 10, across all 29 districts of Taichung City! Fusheng Park, located in Xinshe District, will highlight the area's rich natural beauty alongside the Flower Carpet Festival and floral art installations based on the theme “Floral Fragrance, Literary Aroma, Happiness Blossoms.” This event features a relaxing picnic party where attendees can savor tasty snacks, engage in exciting tree-climbing activities, and enjoy performances from a cappella group, a wind ensemble, and a magical circus. Additionally, there will be plenty of opportunities for photos and exciting raffle prizes. Citizens are encouraged to bring their families and pets to enjoy the weekend festivities.
Chen Chia-Chun, the Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, noted that in 2022, Mayor Lu introduced a city governance approach centered on low carbon, intelligence, and innovation, establishing a unique green and low-carbon picnic day for Taichung. This year’s picnic day for citizens carries the theme “Picnic Recharge, Grassland Discharge” and has expanded to cover all 29 districts. The Cultural Affairs Bureau is organizing the event in Xinshe District, linking it with the annual International Flower Carpet Festival. There is a particular focus on showcasing local cultural characteristics and floral planting elements from Xinshe District to create a heart-warming and relaxed atmosphere for picnic gatherings, allowing attendees to take photos and spend leisure time together.
According to the Huludun Cultural Center, the Picnic Day event in Xinshe District will feature a variety of exciting performances, such as a cappella vocal renditions by the Taichung Indoor Choir, an enchanting forest circus show, a concert by Taiwan Youth Band, and interactive balloon performances by street artists. There will also be a designated area for tree-climbing, encouraging parents and children to discover and appreciate the beauty of nature together. Attendees can also enjoy limited free samples of Hakka snacks, participate in family-friendly workshops about soft rush, seeds, and indigo dyeing, and visit a mobile library stocked with books on gardening and floral themes. This event invites the public to wander through the park, savor delicious food, and immerse themselves in reading!
On November 10, Fusheng Park in Xinshe District will host the “Floral Fragrance, Literary Aroma, Happiness Blossoms” event, featuring a variety of generous giveaways! Participants can exchange photos taken at the floral art installations for gifts such as creative cultural products, potted grass and flowers, vouchers, bikes, and many other exciting prizes. Everyone is invited to share the weekend picnic experience with their loved ones, friends, and pets. Free dog waste bags will also be available at the venue to promote a low-carbon and eco-friendly concept of caring for our planet.
