Jingle bells, jingle bells, the joyous and heartwarming December has arrived! The Taichung City Government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau has organized an array of wonderful events. By borrowing books from the library, you can redeem limited-edition gifts like mobile library-themed socks, fun and creative building blocks, and practical phone lanyards. There will also be interactive juggling acts, energetic street dances, and workshops to craft mini Christmas trees. At the Huludun Cultural Center, immerse yourself in enchanting snow scenes and sparkling lights. Welcome to enjoy a heartwarming and romantic Christmas season filled with the fragrance of books and the charm of art.
The Wufeng Yiwen and Xingan branches of Taichung Public Library are hosting festive Christmas-themed book exhibitions. These exhibitions offer a variety of engaging reads, from whimsical fairy tale picture books to educational holiday stories, creating a delightful Christmas reading journey for young readers. In addition, starting December 3, you can join the “Joyful Christmas Reading, Exclusive Rewards” event. With a Taichung Public Library Personal or Family Card, borrowing 10 books earns you points that can be redeemed for exclusive Christmas gifts at all branches. The star of the rewards is the mobile library-themed socks inspired by the library’s second solar-powered bookmobile. The design features a yellow base, symbolizing the bountiful rice fields of Fengyuan, and a red checkered design, representing vitality and local pastries—a truly delightful keepsake!
The Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that the Huludun Cultural Center will unveil a romantic Christmas-themed display in its lobby since December 5, running for an entire month. Next week, the outdoor Banyan Plaza will sparkle with a sea of lights, setting a magical Christmas vibe. On December 7, the Fengyuan Branch’s Banyan Theater and outdoor plaza will host an exciting lineup of performances. Highlights include percussionist Papi Bucket, who uses everyday items as percussion instruments to deliver creative music and juggling acts, and YiDen Studio, which will electrify the audience with a Christmas carnival dance show featuring Hip-hop and Jazz styles. The festivities continue on December 21 with a Christmas and Winter Solstice Carols Celebration Concert, spreading love and blessings through vibrant singing and dancing. We welcome everyone to join in the festive spirit of Christmas.
Furthermore, craft enthusiasts should mark their calendars for the “New Fiber Arts—Colorful Yoyo Christmas Trees” event at the Museum of Fiber Arts on December 8, 15, and 22. These sessions offer families the chance to create charming mini Christmas trees that can be used as ornaments or decorations, adding a festive touch anytime, anywhere. On December 22, the Taichung City Library - Main Branch will host the “Shining Christmas Day—Creative Parent-Child Lamp Crafting” event, where participants can transform wine bottles into unique Christmas light decorations. This event allows families to learn resource-recycling techniques while enjoying the fun of crafting and the warmth of the holiday season. The Cultural Affairs Bureau warmly invites everyone to Taichung this December for a vibrant and diverse Christmas celebration featuring reading, art, music, and DIY fun. For more event information, visit the official websites or Facebook pages of the respective art venues and libraries.
