Bugcat Capoo leads you through the Taichung Public Library's main exhibition, open from April 23 at Taichung Public Library Szu-Chang-Li Branch in Beitun(北屯四張犁總館). Come and enjoy reading!

The hugely popular and adorable character Bugcat Capoo has transformed into the reading companion of the Taichung Public Library! Yara(亞拉), the original creator of Capoo, has specially designed a unique collaborative illustration exclusively for the Taichung Green Museumbrary, warming up for its grand opening later this year. According to the Taichung City Government's Cultural Affairs Bureau, the first wave of events features the illustrated book exhibition "Capoo Leads You Through the Taichung Public Library," which runs from April 23 to June 30 at Taichung Public Library Szu-Chang-Li Branch in Beitun(北屯四張犁總館). On-site, visitors can find adorable Capoo visuals perfect for photo ops and light-hearted reading — a cute way to kick off your reading mission!

The Cultural Affairs Bureau explains that the Green Museumbrary is a creative new cultural venue that combines the city’s new central library with the municipal art museum. It’s composed of eight architecturally diverse "building boxes" and showcases a highly creative design style. This year, local Taichung manga artist Yara has been specially invited to collaborate on the "Green Museumbrary x Capoo" exclusive illustrations. These artworks mark the opening chapter of Capoo exploring the Green Museumbrary and are paired with a themed book exhibition at the Taichung Public Library to build excitement for the new venue's opening.

The library states that this exhibition, guided by Capoo, invites visitors into the world of illustrated storytelling. While the main exhibition area is at the Sih-Jhang-Li Main Branch in Beitun, Capoo will also make appearances at nine other branches, inviting readers of all ages to visit and find the cute blue Capoo while enjoying the fun and healing power of reading. In 2024, the total number of books borrowed in Taichung exceeded 20.24 million, reflecting the public's passion for reading. Illustrated books, in particular, are popular across all age groups, including educational and entertaining titles like "Science Experiment King"(《科學實驗王》) ,motivational books like "Run and Ride Around Taiwan"(《跑騎全台灣》), and creatively themed reads such as "The Word Demon" (《文字魔人》), which blends fantasy, mystery, and classical Chinese knowledge. The new central library aims to showcase even more diverse forms of reading and create engaging experiences, inviting everyone to dive into the sea of books and enjoy a life of reading.

The library adds that, in addition to the collaborative exhibition, the annual fan-favorite event "Reading Monopoly – Digital Reading Ledger" has also kicked off. Anyone who borrows 50 books or more by the end of June will get one raffle entry (up to 5 entries per person). Prizes include Capoo-themed gifts such as a coin bank, travel toiletry bag, and printed tote bag. There’s also a Green Museumbrary Grand Prize — an e-paper reader! Capoo is already chilling at the library, ready to join you for an adorable and relaxing reading experience.
