This library card is just too cute! To celebrate the upcoming grand opening of the Taichung Green Museumbrary on December 13, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government has officially announced the launch of a limited edition library card in collaboration with the beloved character Bugcat Capoo. This special edition card is a reading gift for Taichung citizens. Those who have not yet obtained a library card from the Taichung Public Library are welcome to apply for the limited edition Bugcat Capoo card at the main library or any branch, adding a touch of cuteness to your reading life.

Chen Chia-chun, Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, stated that the new main building of the Taichung Public Library (Green Museumbrary) will open on December 13. In partnership with Yara, the local comic artist and creator of the Bugcat Capoo IP, they are launching a limited run of 80,000 Bugcat Capoo library cards. These can be applied for at any of Taichung’s 46 public libraries. With this adorable card, readers can borrow books and accumulate reading points and knowledge wealth. Director Chen also mentioned that the Taichung Public Library will continue to collaborate with creators from Taiwan and abroad to bring citizens more exciting reading experiences.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau explained that the card design features the super-cute Capoo opening a book, with the eight buildings of the Green Museumbrary popping out, symbolizing how reading opens up imagination and wisdom. The limited edition library cards are available in both “Personal Card” and “Family Card” options. Citizens can first fill out the application form on the Taichung Public Library website (https://gov.tw/GxT) and then visit the main library or any branch to collect the adorable library card. With the card, readers gain access to the 7.2 million items in the Taichung Public Library collection. Existing library cardholders can also exchange their cards for the limited edition one (for a replacement fee), making the Bugcat Capoo card the cutest reading accessory for Taichung residents! Additionally, during the Green Museumbrary opening period, citizens who use the Capoo card to borrow books from the new main library will receive an exclusive Capoo-themed gift!

The Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that the event attracted an enthusiastic crowd, with many children excitedly holding up their new library cards, exclaiming, “I’ve got my own library card now! I can borrow lots of books with my Capoo card!” The Taichung Public Library also announced the launch of a special collaborative animation short by Yara, depicting a whimsical reading journey in Capoo’s signature humorous style, to build excitement for the Green Museumbrary opening.

Furthermore, the “Capoo Takes You on a Tour of the Taichung Public Library” exhibition is now on display at the Si-Zhang-Li main library and nine branch libraries, running until June 30. The exhibition combines AR technology, allowing visitors to interact and read together with a dynamic Capoo character through their phones. All citizens are invited to step into the library and open the first chapter of reading at the Taichung Green Museumbrary.
