When cool geometric lines meet freely flowing color, what kind of artistic spark will be ignited? On March 21, 2026, the Taichung City Tun District Art Center held the opening ceremony for “Yeh-Hung Tseng: Geometric Interpretation Creative Exhibition.” This exhibition presents the rational thinking that Yeh-Hung Tseng has cultivated through more than 35 years in the design field. Moving from designer to artist, he integrates the life energy drawn from his love of travel and arts promotion with the art of painting, achieving an artistic philosophy in which logic and inner consciousness intertwine. The exhibition runs from now through April 19, and members of the public are sincerely invited to experience this artistic feast and discover how a world of emotion can be constructed through a rational framework.
Artist Yeh-Hung Tseng holds a doctoral degree in digital media design from Asia University. He previously served as director of the art museum at Chienkuo Technology University and chairman of the Taichung Advertising Creativity Association, and possesses both a strong academic foundation and extensive practical experience. After more than 35 years of experience in the design field, and after successfully earning a doctorate in design in early 2025, he has continued to challenge himself and seek new breakthroughs. At a new milestone in life, as he approaches the age of fifty, he has chosen to channel the professional energy accumulated over many years back into pure artistic creation. His works are not only an extension of personal interest, but also a reconstruction of self value. By transforming years of design thinking into an artistic benchmark imbued with the spirit of the times, he has injected fresh cross disciplinary momentum into the development of arts and culture in Taichung.
Shu-Min Yuan, director of the Tun District Art Center, stated that this exhibition features approximately 30 two dimensional paintings, fully demonstrating the characteristics of “painting through design thinking.” Geometric lines can serve as the foundation of painting, and through insights gained from long years of design practice, Yeh-Hung Tseng believes that geometric art is deeply compelling. His works not only contain rigorous vertical and horizontal grids, but also incorporate naturally flowing colors and textured brushwork, revealing structures as precise as architecture and vitality as ever changing as the natural world. For example, in “Geometric Radiance,” highly saturated yellow serves as the dominant tone, while rigorously structured lines form a grid that creates a powerful visual impact. In “Ocean Waves,” vertical gray and white blocks are skillfully used to establish order, intersected by golden lines symbolizing light and shadow, and combined with flowing layers of blue and green tones to present a dynamic semi abstract seascape. These works embody the realm in which “design is encountered within painting, and painting is encountered within design,” enabling viewers to experience profound visual beauty and design philosophy through geometric rhythm.
According to the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government, Yeh-Hung Tseng’s works are dedicated to enabling viewers not merely to see a painting, but to experience a carefully designed visual journey. Also on view during the same exhibition period are “Masters Around the Corner: Exhibition of Ni Chao-lung’s Works” and “Each Art in Its Own Delight: The 15th Graduation Art Exhibition and Joint Exhibition of the Art Class of Dayuan Elementary School in 2026.” For detailed exhibition information, please visit the official website of the Tun District Art Center or its Facebook fan page (https://www.facebook.com/ttdac/).
