This summer’s most anticipated city celebration is here! Jointly presented by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government and local Taiwan Top Performing Arts Group Eye Catching Circus, the 2026 Taichung Summer Circus Festival brings together national-caliber performing groups, including the Australian all female circus troupe YUCK Circus and the improv comedy sensation Haox Hsiao Troupe for stand up comedy performances. With this star studded lineup, all performances are free of charge. Bring your family and friends to Taichung Park on June 27 and 28 to experience the double delight of circus and comedy.

Chia-Chun Chen, Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government, stated that by organizing a circus festival, the city not only provides a platform for performance and exchange for professional troupes from Taiwan and abroad and encourages the continued accumulation of creative energy, but also brings the performing arts into parks, plazas, and urban public spaces, drawing art closer to the public. This year’s lineup can truly be described as a dream collaboration. In addition to specially inviting YUCK Circus for its first ever appearance in Taichung, the festival also brings together leading domestic troupes, including Eye Catching Circus, Circus Gate, UNI Circus, and Bou-Dau Bros., along with circus artists and jugglers from around the world. On the main stage, Haox Hsiao Troupe will also appear as the featured comedy act, using stand up comedy to connect the performances with humor. Together, female led circus, witty comedy, and high level physical acrobatics will be woven into a fantastical contemporary circus party filled with laughter.

To build excitement ahead of the festival, Eye Catching Circus will first launch a street pop up performance in Taichung at 4 p.m. on June 14. The troupe will surprise audiences with its work Keep in Touch! at the CMP Museum, eslite Park Lane by CMP, and Taichung Railway Station. Fans are warmly invited to experience the tension and wonder of circus up close and to enjoy a romantic and dazzling encounter with contemporary circus on the streets of Taichung.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau added that the Taichung Summer Circus Festival began at 4:00 PM on June 27 and 28, with four themed zones carefully planned at Taichung Park. In addition to the high energy large scale circus competitions on the main stage, the Diverse Stage will present contemporary circus performances in a range of different styles. The festival will also feature circus workshops suitable for family participation, as well as a Style Market filled with the atmosphere of a summer island bazaar. Each of the four themed zones will offer its own surprises. Families and visitors of all ages are warmly invited to come and experience the magical charm of contemporary circus and create an unforgettable midsummer fantasy journey together.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau emphasized that this will be a contemporary circus celebration full of human warmth and capable of completely reshaping the public’s imagination of traditional circus.
