The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government has long been committed to supporting emerging artists and building bridges that connect young creators with the art industry. On June 4, the Bureau led 10 rising artists recommended by Nova Vanguard (藝術新聲) to make a striking appearance at ART TAICHUNG 2026 (臺中國際藝術博覽會), showcasing the abundant creative energy of a new generation of artists. This year’s art fair held for three consecutive days, from June 5 to June 7, at the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center, TICEC (臺中國際會展中心).
The Cultural Affairs Bureau is committed to building a comprehensive art ecosystem and actively connecting artistic creation with industry resources in order to create more exhibition and performance opportunities for emerging creators. Organized by the Taiwan Art Gallery Association (中華民國畫廊協會), ART TAICHUNG 2026 enters its 14th year this year and has become an important annual platform for artistic exchange in central Taiwan. The Bureau has participated over the long term and has recommended outstanding emerging artists through Nova Vanguard to step onto this stage.
The Bureau further explained that Nova Vanguard has recommended emerging artists to participate in ART TAICHUNG for ten consecutive years since 2017. This year, a total of 10 emerging artists selected from 16 departments across 13 schools exhibited at the fair. Together, Nova Vanguard of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government, Luminous Art Marketing (璞玉發光) of the National Hsinchu Living Arts Center (國立新竹生活美學館), and the NTUA Young Talents Awards (臺藝新人獎) of the National Taiwan University of Arts (國立臺灣藝術大學) presented works at ART TAICHUNG, forming a cross regional and cross disciplinary support network for young artists and jointly building a platform for the next generation of contemporary art in Taiwan to grow.
The Bureau also noted that while the art fair unfolds inside TICEC, the neighboring Taichung Art Museum (臺中市立美術館) is likewise drawing large crowds with its two summer exhibitions, "Horizon Ablaze"(熱暑人-熱/暑的文化與當代藝術) and "The Covenant of Dadu: A Diplomacy of Things between Mountains and Seas"(大肚之盟:山海間的物際外交). The convergence of these rich and diverse artistic presentations is helping shape Taichung’s cultural energy as a city rooted in Taiwan while looking out toward the world. The Bureau hopes to continue promoting art through multiple avenues so that Taichung can become a city where art lovers, creators, and collectors alike are eager to linger, while continuing to build a pathway to the international stage for a new generation of artists.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau also expressed its gratitude to local artist Ms. Wu Mian-Zhen (吳綿珍女士) and Hsieh Chun-Mei (謝春美女士) for their generous sponsorship in support of the participation of emerging artists at ART TAICHUNG 2026. Through this generosity, the Bureau hopes to further the ongoing transmission and succession of artistic generations.
