To strengthen connections between local culture and education, partners from Taichung's Cultural Bases joined local schools in Meishan Community, Houli District, for a cultural exchange featuring presentations, workshops, and cross-sector dialogue. The event created opportunities to explore new possibilities for collaboration across Taichung while fostering mutually beneficial cultural development.

Participants took part in a sugarcane dyeing workshop inspired by the region's sugar industry, creating one-of-a-kind tie-dyed works while gaining a deeper appreciation of the area's cultural heritage and the innovative uses of sugarcane following the closure of the Yuehmei Sugar Refinery. During the exchange and sharing sessions, representatives from Cultural Bases across Taichung introduced their experiences and community-based initiatives, demonstrating how local resources can be transformed into distinctive cultural programs that bridge the gap between the public and long-neglected cultural heritage. Teachers from Yuemei Elementary School and Yuh-Ing Elementary School also shared how the history of the sugar industry has been incorporated into their curriculum, helping students better understand their hometown's heritage and develop a stronger connection to its cultural landscape.

The event further strengthened partnerships among Cultural Bases, local communities, and schools, highlighting the value of cross-sector collaboration in sustaining and promoting local culture.

Looking ahead, the Cultural Bases Network will continue to launch a series of public programs. On 9 July, Flavours of Home: Military Kindred's Village Food Culture Experience will take place at the Taichung Military Kindred Village Museum, located in Beitun New Village, inviting participants to explore military kindred’s village heritage through receipt and tasting.

On 25 July and 9 August, in collaboration with the Museum of Fiber Arts, Taichung's <And Then: Conversations with the Collection> project, artist Pei-Ying Lin and chef Hao-Fu Chang will give talks at Central Bookstore and Fusion Space 1962 respectively, sharing their creative practices, research, and experiences of community engagement. Through these exchanges, the program aims to inspire new perspectives, encourage interdisciplinary dialogue, and create future opportunities for collaboration across Taichung's Cultural Bases.
