Organized by the Taichung City Seaport Culture and Arts Foundation and co-organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government, “Happiness City - 2026 Seaport Art Center Mid-Autumn Folk Song Night” opened lively on the evening of September 12 at the Outdoor Art Plaza of Taichung City Seaport Art Center. Eight classic singers, Johnny Yin, Jui-Yu Wang, Chia-Hsiu Yeh, Amy Chen, Tzu-Han Chou, Pei-Tsen Tu, Yi-Fen Hu, and Li-Ting Lan, took turns performing more than 22 classic songs, including “The Kapok Road”, “Second Farewell to Cambridge”, “Yueqin”, and “Flying Youth”. More than 4,000 people at the venue were immersed in familiar folk song melodies under the autumn breeze and moonlight, sharing a warm and unforgettable Mid-Autumn night.
The event opened with folk song prince Jui-Yu Wang, who performed well-loved songs such as “The Kapok Road”, “Thinking of You”, and “Bringing Up the Past Again”. As soon as the familiar melodies began, they immediately brought back memories of youth for many in the audience. Chia-Hsiu Yeh, the songwriter behind “Grandma’s Penghu Bay”, returned to the stage after surgery and dedicated one of his first performances to fans in Taichung after working hard to rebuild his lung capacity. He performed popular songs including “A Country Road”, “Love Me Once Again”, “Autumn Comes to Mind”, and “How Are You Now”, taking the audience back to the era of campus folk songs and filling the venue with nostalgia.
The evening ended with “Triple Crown Singer” Johnny Yin, winner of the Golden Bell Award, Golden Tripod Award, and three-time Golden Melody Award for Best Male Mandarin Singer. With his heartfelt voice, he performed songs including “Second Farewell to Cambridge” and “Moonlight in the City”. On a night of clear autumn breezes and bright moonlight, he brought the concert to a touching close, allowing the audience to feel the warmth and beauty of Taichung as a city of happiness through classic melodies.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government said “Happiness City - 2026 Seaport Art Center Mid-Autumn Folk Song Night” has been held for nine consecutive years, growing from a Mid-Autumn concert into an important annual music event in the coastal area. Each year, classic folk songs connect the shared memories of different generations. Folk songs are no longer music from one particular era alone, but emotional memories shared when families and friends gather. They also add a warm time of connection through song to the Mid-Autumn Festival, alongside moon viewing and reunion.
This free concert attracted residents who love folk songs to gather at Taichung City Seaport Art Center. On an autumn night woven together by the sea breeze, bright moon, and singing, they sang the familiar melodies of their younger days together. From “The Kapok Road” to “Second Farewell to Cambridge”, each classic song connected memories across generations, turning the Outdoor Art Plaza of Taichung City Seaport Art Center into a joyful night filled with singing and laughter and leaving unforgettable musical memories for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival.
