Taichung’s technology theater returns this autumn! Taichung City Tun District Art Center will present the “2026 Techno-Cross Arts Experimental Field - Co-sensing the Future” series from October 4 to November 21. The featured program is “KINGDOM”, co-created by Ting-Ting CHAO and Anarchy Dance Theatre. Set in “a digital kingdom with no inhabitants”, the work uses dance, virtual reality, 3D scanning, and real-time motion capture technology. Early bird tickets are available at 25% off from now until September 30. The series also includes “Story Developing: Wufeng Translation Project”, a VR aesthetics lecture, VR film screenings, and an online behind-the-scenes talk on the creative story. The public is invited to experience the sensory appeal of art combined with technology.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government said Tun District Art Center has long been committed to promoting technology-based art and deepening the value of local original creation. In the past, the Center invited playwright Meng-Huan Lin and a writing team to create the local script “Wufeng Stories”. This year’s “2026 Techno-Cross Arts Experimental Field” specially invites Telling Tent to use AI to translate the script, paired with a staged reading, connecting technology with local memory. The technology art incubator work “Afterlight: MR” will collaborate with the Education Bureau through “Exploring Beauty Together - Aesthetic Experience Education Program for Elementary and Junior High Schools Promoted by the Ministry of Education”, connecting with local schools and inviting teachers and students to attend a dark-space MR immersive dance performance.
Curatorial consultant Po-Wei Wang said we have entered the age of mixed reality. With “Co-sensing the Future” at its core, the 2026 Techno-Cross Arts Experimental Field hopes to break the boundary between the virtual and the real through bodily practice and technological co-creation in the theater, helping the public understand that technology is no longer just a cold, hard tool, but a key medium for reshaping collective perception, self-identity, and emotional connection. The featured program “KINGDOM” by Anarchy Dance Theatre and Ting-Ting CHAO is set in a digital kingdom. Through live multi-screen assemblage and the bodily language of dancers, it presents fragmented, liquefied, and incomplete scanned object files to explore how humans re-sense the body, memory, and states of existence after digital technology becomes deeply embedded in everyday life. The work will guide audiences to co-sense the future, promising an exciting experience.
Tun District Art Center further said that, to offer accessible and interactive experiences, the “2026 Techno-Cross Arts Experimental Field” will invite Riverbed Theatre Director Su-Ling Yeh to lead a VR aesthetics lecture and a VR first-experience film program. It will also invite Wei-Hsuan Huang and Ting-Ting CHAO from the creative team of the technology theater work “KINGDOM” to present an online behind-the-scenes talk for the subject center. Through in-person interaction and online participation, the public can enter the world of technology art and experience the full journey from creation and arrangement to practice.
For the “2026 Techno-Cross Arts Experimental Field - Co-sensing the Future” series, tickets for the technology theater performance “KINGDOM” are available on the OPENTIX platform. “Story Developing: Wufeng Translation Project”, the VR aesthetics lecture, VR film screenings, and other activities are free with online ticket registration through Accupass.
